Medical assistance, relocation and repatriation

In the event of illness or accident of the insured while travelling, they will be provided with the means required for their medical-hospital care, along with other medical services and additional covers. A central medical unit will be in contact with the insured and with the medical personnel providing care to them 24/7, and they will supervise those sent to provide on-site care.

Medical expenses

In the event of the unexpected illness or accident of any insured person while on a journey, the expenses shown below will be covered during the term of the insurance contract and up to the monetary limits of the cover taken out per insurance period and insured party:
Medical fees.
Drugs prescribed by a doctor or surgeon.
Hospitalisation costs.
Ambulance expenses for a local journey ordered by a doctor.

Legal assistance

The following are covered:

  • Cash advance of up to €7,000 to the insured in the event of loss or theft of cards.
  • Cash advance to cover criminal bail bonds abroad up to €12,000 and legal assistance costs relating to a traffic accident of up to €3,000.
  • Sums advanced must be repaid to the insurer within 30 days.

 

Cancellation of a journey prior to its commencement

Expenses relating to the cancellation of a journey that are invoiced to the insured in application of general sales conditions are covered in compliance with applicable law and provided that the journey is cancelled before its start date and at least 72 hours after the policy has been taken out.

Journey delay

Reimbursement will be paid for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the place where a delay in public transport has occurred, provided that the transport operates with established timetables and the delay is in excess of 6 hours from the time the journey would have started.

Interruption of a journey after its commencement

Reimbursement will be paid for days not spent at the insured’s temporary residence in the event of an interruption of a commenced journey for the same reasons as those applicable to the cover for costs arising from the cancellation of a journey prior to its commencement.

Baggage cover

Assistance for the search for and location of the insured's luggage is covered. This cover includes providing advice on how to file a complaint for the same. If luggage is located, it will be sent to the insured's habitual residence in Spain, provided that the presence of the owner is not necessary for its reception.

Liability

This insurance provides compensation for personal injury as well as for property and/or consequential damage caused by the insured to third parties which they may be required to pay for non-contractual liability pursuant to the law of the applicable country.

Roadside assistance

Only when GENERALI TRAVEL CHOICE has been taken out, and for journeys in one’s own vehicle exclusively in Spain or other European countries.

Accident insurance

The insurance provides compensation for the insured’s death or total permanent disability due to an accident occurring while travelling on public transport (return trip) or during their stay at the destination as covered by the policy. This cover is only valid for people up to the age of 70. In the case of children under 14 years of age, the death cover will be applicable to funeral expenses up to a sum insured of €3,000.

Data recovery

This cover provides the insured with a service to recover the content of digital devices owned by them that have sustained accidental damage resulting in the loss or deterioration of stored data. Only the following devices are covered:

  • Digital cameras
  • Digital video cameras The benefits of this data recovery service will be limited to one claim per insured person per journey, and one device per insured person per journey, up to a maximum of €1,200.

 

  • The deductible is the amount or distance within which there is no right to receive any compensation.
- In the medical assistance and medical transfer guarantee, for the coverage of medical costs abroad during the trip, a deductible of 30 euros is established to be paid by the Insured Party for each and every one of the health services required.
- In the roadside assistance guarantee, the following distance deductible applies: the policy covers insured persons and/or insured vehicles from 35 km from their habitual place of residence (15 km in the Balearic and Canary Islands).
  • GENERALI Travel is travel assistance insurance for individuals that has four modes:
- Short duration: temporary mode designed for occasional journeys with a duration of less than 62 days. 
- Long duration: temporary mode designed for trips between 63 and 365 days, by full months.
- Multiple journeys in one year. Designed for those people who make several journeys during the year, provided that each is less than 90 days.
- Annual travel. Designed for those people who travel for a year or more outside Spain and within the area of coverage chosen.
  • In each policy, the Holder is allowed to choose among various capital or coverage options, since in most cases this is a variable need according to the type of journey and the individual involved.
  • The countries that form the Europe area for the purpose of taking out insurance are as follows: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Vatican City, Yugoslavia.
  • On your trips and journeys, circumstances can occur in which you need to request assistance but, in any case, the first thing you should do is call us to notify us of the reason for the incident.
  • Once the incident has been reported to the corresponding department, depending on whether it is a medical request or refers to your luggage or insured vehicle, our team of health care and assistance workers will mobilise to assist you, wherever you are. You will receive the assistance as quickly as possible, even if it means sending our medical partners to the area efficiently and with minimum inconvenience for you and yours.
